It's been a while

Oh man I really need to update this thing. Maybe I should attach it to Twitter or Facebook somehow. I seem to update them enough. Maybe I'll look into finding an app for my phone. I hope there's an app for this. lol

New Year's Resolution: Update this at least once a month. And try to keep the house sort of clean. And have less road rage toward Georgia Peaches who freak out at the slightest sign of cold weather and drive terribly. (I will not fly by you going the speed limit and grip on how you can't drive)

Cool Church Names...

For this entry you will need some background reading from Stuff Christians Like
Here is the link to the post I am commenting on:

#3 struck my interest today. In my life I've gone to 4 churches. 2 happened to share the same name (Grace UMC) and two with names that my grandma was sure are not "real" churches, the one and only time her and Joe attended Terra Nova for church (graduation morning) I thought she would have a heart attack when I asked Joe if her would like some hot tea for the service and that there were no hymnals (what will we sing if we have no hymnals??!!). I think my time at Terra Nova (where I interned serior year of college, met my husband and got married) and Momentum (where I currently attend in Woodstock, GA) have impacted my life much more than my church I grew up in and the church that I went to for a year in college, thanks to my parents hooking me up with it.

I think there should be a special expectation that by going to a church that has a cool name that it should be more exciting or something than a church with the name Grace United Methodist Church (GUMC as I will further refer to them as, with my home church being GUMC1 and my one year college school being GUMC2). Now I love the church I grew up in, it was awesome, however the services were long and boring to me. Our "praise service" that we got sometime when I was in high school, pretty much consisted of 5 or 6 of my friends' parents on stage singing "Shine, Jesus, Shine" and "Shout to the Lord" every week. Some people like that, I don't. The best thing about GUMC1 to me was our youth group and our youth pastor we had for a few years while I was in high school, Rev. Ruth. If it weren't for Rev. Ruth I would have never went to church camp at Lakeside, meet the wonderful people I did at Lakeside Institute, know what Ohio Wesleyan was or end up going there, or really ever have my life fully on track.

Momentum and Terra Nova are both upbeat and, this may make or break my thoughts on a 'good' church, let you drink coffee during the service (it is a no-no at GUMC1 to have any drink but communion grape juice in the sanctuary). I know coffee does not determine holiness or anything, but I would like to think that God and Jesus have at least one cup every morning. Another thing I like about my cool named churches are that rather than reading word for word a sermon that they mostly got off the internet (oh yeah it has happened before and caused me to really dislike a well-liked pastor at GUMC1) Jason (at TN) and Ross (Momentum) have a basic outline of what they are going to talk about, but speak from the inside and are not afraid to get a little off subject mid-sermon. I like that because I have ADHD and getting off subject is what I do best, so if the pastor can get off subject a little and run around on stage that will keep my attention better than someone standing at the pulpit reading word for word and not engaging the congregation.

Maybe I am a little partial to my 2 cooler named churches though because they are different and if it weren't for Terra Nova and my best friend making me drive her there one day in July '07, I would have never met Alex, which leads to not getting married and moving to the Peach State. So I think God had His hand in there big time telling Juliet to ask me to take her to her church since she didn't have a ride that week. I am also glad that in January of '08, Alex got a phone call telling him that some church needed a drummer that Sunday in Woodstock, so CR had asked him to play. If it weren't for Momentum, I would probably hate Georgia. Everyone at Momentum is so nice and loving. And I love it!!! I am a very huggy person (side-hugs make me smile) and most people at Momentum are the same way so it makes me feel at home when I walk out to the lobby and get 50 side-hugs from everyone. :)

Alright I may add more on my cool names later, but I just realized that I never turned on the coffee pot and kinda want some coffee. I will also post my slim list of resolutions later too.

Lots of Love and tator tots :)

Jesus Fish and Church stickers

So I have been pondering over writing this post for a few days now. The other day while driving someone in a mini-van, who was obviously in a hurry to beat me to the red light, cut me off without the use a blinker (apparently they were late to pick up their kids from soccer practice, eheh). In the mist of my urgency to yell and throw a fit, I realized that this mini-van had an ichthus on their car.

I started thinking about an old devo (or something someone had said I don't remember which) where the person said they would pray for the reckless drivers on the road and even more for those without any religious stickers or emblems on their car. This made me think that maybe when we put those religious emblems and stickers on our vehicles we should (naturally or at least mentally try to) show Christianity to those around us by not having such road rage when people do cut us off, just nicely slow down since they may have a good explanation for why they cut you off. By showing people that little kindness, even if they don't realize it, and maybe a little prayer for their safety, it can show those around us that not all Christians are as bad as sometimes we are perceived. By being unruly and upset, you can be seen as being a hypocrite and not showing God's amazing grace and love. I know, I know, if Jesus had a car he may get angry at some of the drivers on Cobb Parkway and 575, but I would like to think that Jesus (in his anger inside) would just smile and make a joke about them being in a hurry rather than show external anger.

I have a Jesus fish, Momentum Church sticker (with the website), an Ohio Wesleyan hat, and a Kappa Phi sicker on my car. My car SCREAMS Christian! And I know that I am guilty of road rage in my car. After the whole ordeal the other day I wondered what people thought of me with all my Christian stuff and road rage. So I have made it a point when I get in my car to drive a say a 5-second prayer that God gives me strength not to get road rage.

In closing, I want to encourage my whole audience, Josh, to be a Christian driver rather than an angry driver.

uninspired

So I felt sorta blah lately. I haven't really felt inspired by much of anything. I don't know if its the cold weather or what but I really haven't felt like doing too much productive. So apologies to my one reader Josh for the minor temporary 'death' of my blog. I never made any promises of keeping it up.

I should be in a much better mood since Christmas is coming, but I think since there is no real surprise in Christmas this year I don't have much to look forward to, except Christmas trees lights and seeing my family. We already got our only Christmas present this year (a new TV).

Maybe it's that I keep thinking about the job that I currently have is seasonal and I may not have it after Christmas. I would love to keep the job because I really like it, but I guess I am not getting my hopes up too high so I don't get disappointed if I don't get hire on for good. I am trying to find another job to help pay bills and stuff, but it seems that no one is hiring and the economy is just going down the drain even more. Even if I don't necessarily agree with his views, I hope that Obama is able to pull us out of the gutter economically.

On the job situation, I have been trying to find another job to work since I'm not getting too many hours at BB. I won't quit BB, I just need a second job since we are low on money right now. I feel like I could count on one hand how many jobs there are in our area right now that I am qualified for, most of which being telemarketer jobs. If you have ever talked to me the phone you would know that there is no way I could ever be a telemarketer thanks to my voice which could be compared to a little higher version of Frencie's from Grease. So that job would be a fluke because people would think it was a prank call... I'm good at babysitting, but have not gotten anything back from the couple people I talked to about it. The whole sewing children's clothing thing is still out there in the air, but I get really nervous about certain things and have never made collars before. If I could get someone to hold my hand and step by step teach me to do it, I would be fine but I have no one here to do that. Sooooo I'm stuck at square one...

On a bright side, I saw this today and it made me smile. http://stufffchristianslike.blogspot.com/2008/12/451-7-sports-myths-christians-like-part.html I have been sort of slow on my reading lately, but this just made my world better :) And adding to it, God actually does wear a sweater vest on Saturdays...

The CMA's and a shameless plug...

So the CMA's are one of my favorite awards show of the year. I try to watch every year. This year is especially exciting since Mary Kay is the official Beauty sponsor! So check it out on ABC tonight and watch for the commercials and each female presenter with be rocking some hot Mary Kay looks. If you see something you like let me know and I can get that look for you.

You can also check out my website at www.marykay.com/akmosier and try some online virtual makeovers for some of the looks you will see tonight!

P.S. Miley Cyrus is not country and so should not be on the awards. Just because her amazing dad sang country doesn't mean she is...

And I want Carrie Underwood's opening dress!

The Truth About Cats and Dogs

After living for a few months with both a cat and a dog, I have learned many differences in them causing me to continue in siding with cats... It may just be that Sammy (our Dachshund) is just really hyper active and that Optimus Prime (our cat) is just a calm easy going cat (for the most part).

Sammy has to be the center of attention at all times and thinks that if we are eating, he should be eating too, particularly our food... Whereas Optimus is quiet and minds to himself for the most part and is quite content with his food and is even happy when the dog is not trying to eat his kitty food....

Sammy has to see everything that is going on in the house and cries a lot if he is alone or if there is something going on that he can not be a part of... Optimus on the other hand could care less that there is something else going on and for the most part just lays in the window checking out everything outside and I would like to think enjoying being indoors and looking out....

Sammy finds it necessary to have a fit every time he sees the cat, even when Optimus is laying in the window minding his own business. Optimus is an affectionate cat when he is allowed to be (meaning Sammy is elsewhere or asleep). For example, right now Sammy is on the couch next to me, Optimus came in the room and sat on the oppositeside of me for some love and petting. As soon as Sammy noticed the cat, he was on top of me barking at the cat until Optimus got down and went on his way.

It boggles my mind how attentive, possesive and hyper Sammy is all the time. I have the energy level of Optimus where I could be content just laying around sleeping and enjoying being indoors all day. I also enjoy that the cat has a litter box and don't have to worry about taking him out to do his business or worry about him peeing on the floor. (For the record Optimus only pees on beds and has been doing much better with not doing that.)

Optimus has learned to fight back lately and it gives me joy to see him put the dog in his place by smacking him in the face when Sammy gets too out of place :) I say "Go get him Optimus!"

I think that as cute as some dogs and puppies can be I will stick to being a cat person, because we have similar personalities and interests...

** On a side note, getting called ignorant the other day was all on Facebook, because of a status I had the said something and then Ron Paul '08... And Josh, Optimus Prime is sweet and I'm sure since he does sich a good job putting Sammy in his place that he would make a fine president... haha
